Brewers Stay Hot With 7-2 Win
|
With center fielder Bernie Sanchez leading the charge, the Helena Brewers defeated the Washington (Rk+) Nationals, 7-2, at Kindrick Legion Field. Sanchez, who leads the PIO in doubles with 14, went 1-3 with a home run and was hit by a pitch. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Matt Coker earned the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 4.1 innings. His record is now 2-0. Helena, now 26-8, has stretched its winning streak to 12 games.
Shortstop Curt Anderson made an impact for Helena, when he swatted a run-scoring double off Terry Gordon in the bottom of the third. For the contest, Anderson went 2-5 with 2 doubles.
"We feel like we're going to win every game right now," said Helena skipper Ben Schorn.
