Nationals Upend Cubs, 5-3

The Washington (Rk+) Nationals knocked off the Chicago (Rk+) Cubs, 5-3, in Pioneer League action at Swine Ballpark. Washington (Rk+) pitcher and Cape Coral, Florida, native Joel Peterson had an outstanding performance. Peterson, now 3-1, was the winner. In 5.2 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 8, walking 0, and allowing 2 runs. Jose Martinez earned his 1st save, after closing out the game.
Center Fielder Malachi Dash made an impact for Washington (Rk+), when he swatted a run-scoring double off Marco Gutierrez in the bottom of the third. For the contest, Dash was 1 for 3 with a double and a walk.
Washington (Rk+) manager Jeff Stanley commended his team for delivering "maximum effort."
With the win, the Nationals have a record of 16-19.
