Bombs Away: Perera Slams 4 Homers
Joe Perera victimized Philadelphia (Rk+) Phillies hurlers, smashing 4 home runs in a herculean effort that will go down in the Pioneer League record books.

In an epic hitting spree at Ballpark of Seymour, the Texas (Rk+) right fielder went downtown again and again, leading the Rangers to a win, 13-1. He went 4-for-5, drove in 9 runs and scored 4 times in the historic game.

"The first ones just happened," he said later, discussing the game. "However, that last time, I was swinging for the fences -- and WHAM -- I nailed it."

Joe Perera hit a solo-shot off Larry Northcutt in the 1st, grounded out in the 3rd, hit a GRAND SLAM off David Fierro in the 5th, hit a two-run home run off David Fierro in the 7th and hit a two-run home run off Hector Galvan in the 9th.

Thus far this season, Perera is hitting .361 with 7 home runs, 25 RBIs and 15 runs scored. He has 35 hits in 97 at-bats and has played in 29 games.
