Tigers Defeat Athletics, 2-1

The Portland Tigers eked out a 2-1 win versus the Oakland (Rk+) Athletics at Hackers Ballpark. Nobody did more than pitcher Ricky Castro. He was terrific. The winning pitcher was Castro, now 2-3. He tossed 7 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 6. Portland is now 42-25, Oakland (Rk+) 18-48.
The Tigers got a big at-bat from first baseman Tom Loy. For the game, Loy went 1 for 4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the fourth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 5th home run of the season gave Portland a 2-1 lead.
"Tough loss," said Oakland (Rk+) manager Josh Deck. "Tough one to swallow."
