Billings turned a good effort from starter Brian Cheeks into a win over the Oakland (Rk+) Athletics at Dehler Park. The Mustangs won the game, 8-2. The third-place Mustangs have a record of 24-17.

The Athletics had been locked in a 2-2 tie with the Mustangs going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 23-year old center fielder Mike Burleson came to the plate. Burleson hit a run-scoring double on a first pitch cutter from Oakland (Rk+) hurler Alex Montalvo. It was Burleson's 3rd double of the year.

"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Burleson. "And not try to do too much."
