Athletics Raise Rally Flag, Beat Seattle (Rk+), 4-0
|
The Oakland (Rk+) Athletics got a stellar performance from pitcher William Hall, who handcuffed the Seattle (Rk+) offense en route to a win, 4-0, at Ballpark of Sammamish. Marco Gutierrez came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The left-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 1.1 innings. His record now stands at 2-5. Oakland (Rk+) is now 17-24, Seattle (Rk+) 24-15.
Paul Banfield, the 22-year old center fielder , had a direct impact on the outcome. Banfield contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the ninth inning to put Oakland (Rk+) up, 1-0.
"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Oakland (Rk+) manager Jose Arocha.
