Chris Barrett pitched well, but his team, the Helena Brewers, still dropped a 4-2 decision to the Chicago (Rk+) Cubs at Kindrick Legion Field. Chicago (Rk+) reliever Jose de los Santos picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Chris Barrett was saddled with the loss. With the victory, the Cubs record stands at 18-25.

Chicago (Rk+) used the timely hitting of Emilio Amezcua to seize the win. The shortstop stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Cubs on top, 4-2. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"The effort we put into this one paid off," Amezcua said.
