Washington (Rk+) Drops Cleveland (Rk+), 3-2
|
In a tight contest between the Washington (Rk+) Nationals and the Cleveland (Rk+) Guardians, Tony Sanchez was the determining factor. The Washington (Rk+) right-hander sparkled in his team's 3-2 win. Sanchez, now 3-0, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 7, walking 2, and allowing 2 runs. The save went to Junichiro Torii, number 1 for him.
B.J. Nilsson, who is tied for 3rd in the PIO in triples with 5, had a direct impact on the outcome. Nilsson contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the second inning to put Washington (Rk+) up, 2-0.
"I was just trying to execute one pitch at a time," said Sanchez.
The Nationals now have a mark of 23-22.
