The bats were silent much of the day at Black Diamonds Ballpark. But 20-year old center fielder Andy Rustay produced just enough offense to carry the Cubs past the Texas (Rk+) Rangers, 3-1. Rustay was 1 for 4 with a double. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. The Cubs raised their record to 21-26.

Rustay contributed a big hit, a 2-run double, for Chicago (Rk+) in the top of the fourth. With his team trailing 1-0, Rustay took a fastball from Mike Smith and stroked the double to right. His 7th double of the season allowed the Cubs to leap in front, 2-1.

"I still have a lot of confidence in this team," Chicago (Rk+) manager Josh Simms said afterward.
