Athletics Snag 3-1 Win
|
Oakland (Rk+) took on Washington (Rk+) in front of a lively crowd.
The Oakland (Rk+) Athletics had to overcome a good performance from Washington (Rk+) pitcher Luis Ruiz to claim a 3-1 win at Swine Ballpark. Ruiz went 6 innings and allowed no runs. Picking up the save was Jonathan Thomas, his 1st.
Kyle Russo came through with a big-time hit for Oakland (Rk+). The first baseman smacked a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to give his team the lead, 2-1. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"Tough loss," said Washington (Rk+) manager Jeff Stanley. "But that's how the cookie crumbles."
The win puts the Athletics at 19-28, while the Nationals drop to 18-30.
