Voyagers Beat Guardians, 4-2
|
The Great Falls Voyagers picked up a win at Centene Stadium, knocking off the Cleveland (Rk+) Guardians, 4-2. Starting pitcher Seth Whaley was a big reason why. In 6.1 innings, Whaley surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 1. He allowed 2 runs. The first-place Voyagers are 34-15.
Great Falls first baseman Miguel Sanchez contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With two down, he hit a curveball into left field for a run-scoring single. It was his 52nd hit of the season and put the Voyagers ahead, 3-2.
"Good pitching, clutch hitting," said Great Falls skipper Jean-Francois Garon. "I can't complain."
