Rangers Stick Cubs with 2-1 Loss
|
In a low-scoring contest between the Texas (Rk+) Rangers and the Chicago (Rk+) Cubs, Gary Ayala was the X factor. The Texas (Rk+) right-hander spearheaded the 2-1 win. Ayala, now 2-5, was the winner. In 5.1 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 6, walking 1, and allowing 1 run. Earning his 1st save of the year was Justin Moss.
Early in the game, second baseman Jose Gutierrez had a run-scoring double for Texas (Rk+). It was his 8th double of the season and put the Rangers on top, 2-1.
"Gary was commanding his pitches," said Texas (Rk+) manager Jimmy Terrell.
The Rangers, at 19-39, sit in last place in the East.
