Portland Absorbs 2-1 Loss to Texas (Rk+)

The Texas (Rk+) Rangers topped the Portland Tigers, 2-1, in Pioneer League action at Black Diamonds Ballpark. The standout performance belonged to Texas (Rk+) pitcher and Bonnyville, Canada, native Mark Josey. The winner was Josey. He threw 7.0 innings of 3-hit ball. The loser was Robby Crowell. The Rangers improved to 33-27.
Josh Valencia, who was drafted in the 3rd round of the 2106 draft, had a timely hit in the bottom of the seventh inning. With one out and a runner on 3rd, the Texas (Rk+) right fielder hit a run-scoring single. That put the Rangers in front, 2-1.
"It'd be nice to win by four or five runs," Josey said, "instead of holding our breath the whole game."
