Portland turned a good performance from starting pitcher Dan Hayes into a 2-1 triumph over the Texas (Rk+) Rangers at Black Diamonds Ballpark. Ryan Cardone earned his 10th save, after closing out the game. The defeat makes Texas (Rk+) 21-43.

Portland used a well-timed hit by Matt Garduno to capture the win. The first baseman socked a run-scoring double in the top of the fourth inning to put the Tigers ahead, 1-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.

"For the most part, I felt like I did a pretty good job with executing the pitches I was throwing," said Hayes.
