Starting pitcher Curtis Sparrow took care of business, helping the Portland Tigers stifle the Las Vegas (Rk+) Hustle, 3-1. Bob Richie, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 1st save. Their 48-22 record puts the Tigers second in the South.

Steve Wray delivered a big hit for Portland. The pinch hitter drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Tigers ahead, 3-1. It was his only hit, but it was a beauty.

"We try to keep the mood light around here," said Wray. "Winning helps."
