The Chicago (Rk+) Cubs downed the Texas (Rk+) Rangers, 8-3, at Black Diamonds Ballpark. The Cubs were led by Travis O'Connor. O'Connor went 3 for 5 with a double and 2 singles, while scoring 2. Chicago (Rk+), at 53-20, is 13 games up in the East.

Emilio Amezcua had a big 2-run home run for the Cubs in the top of the second inning. With Chicago (Rk+) leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a fastball from Ramon Acosta, who is tied for 7th in the PIO in strikeouts with 75, and punished it. The result was his 4th home run of the season, which put the Cubs on top, 3-0.
