The Helena Brewers did just enough to sneak past the Portland Tigers, 4-3, at Kindrick Legion Field. Helena pitcher Doug Loughlin, in particular, had a standout performance. Loughlin went 5.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 3 hits, walked 2, and struck out 6. His record improves to 8-0. With the win, the Brewers hiked their record to 48-26.
Pat Higham contributed to the Helena win with a run-scoring single in the bottom of the third. For the game, the third baseman had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 2 runs batted in.
