Guardians Beat Visiting Mariners, 4-2
|
Cleveland (Rk+) turned a good effort from starter Jay Pritchett into a win over the Seattle (Rk+) Mariners at Parrots Ballpark. The Guardians won the game, 4-2. In 5.2 innings, Pritchett surrendered 7 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 1. He allowed 1 run. Devin Cain collected his 11th save.
Tim Craig had a big run-scoring double for the Guardians in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Cleveland (Rk+) leading 2-1 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a fastball from 20-year old right-handed pitcher Jim Unknown and swatted a double to left. It was his 7th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Guardians ahead, 3-1.
"We'll keep playing hard and let the chips fall where they may," said Cleveland (Rk+) manager Greg Malhiot.
The Mariners, at 21-53, have lost 5 straight games.
