Lennon Homers Twice in 4-1 Phillies Win
|
The Philadelphia (GCL) Phillies reigned over the Washington (GCL) Nationals in damp conditions.
The Philadelphia (GCL) Phillies defeated the Washington (GCL) Nationals, 4-1. Doing his part was second baseman Steve Lennon, who was 4-4 with 2 home runs and a double, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Ken Moscatelli, the winner, improved to 8-1. He held Washington (GCL) to 1 run on 2 hits over 6 innings, while racking up 11 strikeouts.
With Philadelphia (GCL) leading 2-1 in the bottom of the fifth, Lennon came up to bat against Washington (GCL) pitcher Jose Zapata. Lennon hit a screwball to left for a 2-run home run. His 17th home run of the season put the Phillies on top, 4-1.
Lennon told a Philadelphia (GCL) Observer reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win.
The Phillies have now won 6 straight.
