David Diaz, who is tied for 2nd in the GCL in strikeouts with 99, imposed his will on the Phillies from the get-go. Relying mainly on his slider, the left-hander spearheaded the 4-1 Baltimore (GCL) triumph. The winning pitcher was Diaz, now 7-2. He tossed 6.1 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 8. Max McCastle wrapped it up, recording his 7th save.

Derek Leis, who is tied for 2nd in the GCL in triples with 8, aided the Baltimore (GCL) cause with a run-scoring walk in the bottom of the second. For the game, the center fielder drew 1 walk in 5 trips to the plate.

"I was able to miss barrels for the most part and the guys behind me made plays," said Diaz.

Today's win puts Baltimore (GCL) at 56-15, while Philadelphia (GCL) falls to 31-40.
