The Tampa Bay (GCL) Rays topped the New York N (GCL) Mets, 4-3, in Gulf Coast Rookie League action at Louisville Grounds. The game was highlighted by the performance of Tampa Bay (GCL) pitcher Miguel Galvez. Tampa Bay (GCL) reliever Alex Norton snagged the win, upping his record to 2-1. Aaron Milligan shouldered the loss. John Cozad recorded his 5th save for Tampa Bay (GCL).

The Mets had been locked in a 3-3 tie with the Rays going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 20-year old center fielder Tommy Starnes came to the plate. Starnes hit a run-scoring double on a 0-2 splitter from New York N (GCL) hurler Aaron Milligan. It was Starnes's 6th double of the year.

"We did a lot of really good things and it was a good win," said Rays manager Chris Schoch.

The Rays saw their win-loss record go to 46-27. At the same time, the Mets fell to 43-29.
