The Houston (GCL) Astros locked up a win at Ensigns Ballpark, knocking off the New York N (GCL) Mets, 5-2. On the mound for Houston (GCL) was right-hander Luis Castillo. He played a major role in the triumph. Castillo yielded 2 runs over 6.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 10 hits, walked 2, and struck out 8. His record improves to 13-3. The third-place Mets have lost 4 straight games.

Houston (GCL) used the timely hitting of Alan Blondell to capture the win. The third baseman stroked a 2-run double in the top of the ninth inning to put the Astros on top, 5-2. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but he made it count.

"Luis has got a slow heartbeat," said Houston (GCL) manager Edgardo Avalos. "He doesn't panic or anything."
