Pirates Paste 3-1 Loss on Phillies
|
Pittsburgh (GCL) Pirates pitcher Kevin Taylor was in top form, leading his team past the Philadelphia (GCL) Phillies, 3-1. Taylor, the winner, moves to 3-1. He threw 6 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 4 and giving up no walks. Nick Cole, credited with the save, is now 3 for 4 in save opportunities.
Pittsburgh (GCL) used the timely hitting of Jordan Gonzeles to seize the win. The designated hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Pirates on top, 3-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"You can never predict what'll happen," Taylor said. "That's why you play the game."
The Pittsburgh (GCL) win streak is now 3 games.
