Hermkens Stars in 12-8 Red Sox Win
|
The Boston (GCL) Red Sox beat the Las Vegas (GCL) Hustle, 12-8, at Roger Dean Stadium. Izak Hermkens, in particular, was impressive. He went 3 for 5 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 3 times and drove in 3. Vicente Gonzales picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 3-0. Jim Muma was tagged with the loss. Boston (GCL) is last in the South Division with a record of 20-54.
With one out in the top of the eighth, Heriberto Tabares had a game-changing hit. The Red Sox shortstop slammed a run-scoring single off Nick Stokes, making the score 7-5, Boston (GCL).
"Getting a lot of baserunners and getting some timely hits, it's a good combination," said Hermkens.
