Morales, Blue Jays March to 9-4 Victory
|
Juan Morales was a vital contributor to the 9-4 Toronto (GCL) victory over Philadelphia (GCL). The Blue Jays center fielder went 4-5 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. Nick Hale, who went 5 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 4 runs on 8 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 5. His record now stands at 1-7. Despite the win, the Blue Jays have a lousy 23-52 record.
Mike Posik was 1-5 for Toronto (GCL). The 18-year old third baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fourth. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 4-4 tie with a run-scoring ground out off Nick Johnson. It was his 40th RBI of the season.
"It was a solid team effort," Posik said. "That's usually what it takes to win."
