Fightin Phils Make Flying Squirrels 8-6 Losers
Though he had a stellar game, Willie Verduzco could not prevent his team, the Richmond Flying Squirrels, from losing, 8-6, to the Reading Fightin Phils. Verduzco went 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Victor Gonzales was credited with the save for Reading, his 4th of the season. Richmond now has a record of 10-16.

The Fightin Phils took advantage of an error in the top of the second inning. Reading was leading 3-2 when Marco Calderon hit a 2-run single that was misplayed. It put the Fightin Phils in front, 5-2.

"I just tried to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Calderon.
