Home Field Advantage: Porterfield, Wilmington Open Round 1 with Win
The Wilmington Blue Rocks powered past the visiting Potomac Nationals, 3-2, in the opener of the Round 1 at Daniel S. Frawley Stadium today. Wilmington designated hitter Ryan Porterfield threw 6.2 innings of 5-hit ball, to lead the charge. The Blue Rocks now lead the series 1-0.

Had B.J. Padgett not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Padgett hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Blue Rocks.

"We're happy," Porterfield told reporters after the win. "When you're in the playoffs, you've got to treat every game like it could be your last."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Daniel S. Frawley Stadium in Wilmington.
