With 3-1 Win, Lake Monsters Go to 49-25
|
The Vermont Lake Monsters picked up a win at Centennial Field, taking down the Tri-City ValleyCats, 3-1. Starting pitcher A.J. Wayne was a big reason why. The winning pitcher was Wayne, now 8-1. He tossed 6.2 innings of 2-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 2. Malik Olds nailed down his 10th save.
The Lake Monsters got a big at-bat from first baseman Justin Hagwood. For the game, Hagwood was 1-4 with a home run. In the bottom of the fourth, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 5th home run of the season gave Vermont a 1-0 lead.
"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Vermont manager Travis Wallace. "It's usually not just one thing."
The victory gives Vermont a record of 49-25.
