Mahoning Valley Wins, Klooster goes 3-for-4
|
No one was more impactful than Sam Klooster in the 5-1 Mahoning Valley win over West Virginia. Klooster went 3 for 4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. Tony Olivarez came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2.1 innings. His record now stands at 4-1. With the win, Mahoning Valley upped its record to 63-12.
Klooster had a game-changing double in the bottom of the eighth. On a first pitch fastball from David Nowlin, he banged a 2-run double to left, giving the Scrappers a 3-1 lead. It was the 6th double of the year for Klooster.
"There were things that we could've improved upon," said Scrappers manager Mike McCormick, "but all in all, I'm satisfied with our performance."
