The Memphis Redbirds got a strong performance from pitcher Crispino Traversari, who stymied the visiting Omaha Storm Chasers en route to a win, 5-2, in Game 2 of the Round 1. The Storm Chasers could never get a bead on the right-handed Traversari, who threw 7.0 innings allowing 2 runs. The Redbirds now hold a 2-0 in the best-of-5 series.

Matthew Allen hit a bases-clearing double off Dave Alva in the bottom of the third, which put the Redbirds in front, 3-0. In addition to the double, Allen had 1 single, while going 2 for 4.

"We lost," Omaha manager Willie Elizondo said later. "We'll deal with it. The series isn't over."

Game 3 is scheduled for Wednesday at Werner Park in Omaha.
