St. Lucie Takes 1-0 Series Lead with Walk-off Win
The St. Lucie Mets powered past the visiting Palm Beach Cardinals, 4-3, in the opener of the Round 1 at Tradition Field. St. Lucie left fielder Jesse Gutierrez went 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once, to lead the charge. The Mets now lead the series 1-0.

The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the ninth. With one out, Gutierrez hit a fastball from Dan Oineal for a run-scoring single. The Mets, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.

"It's true for every sport, I think, but the playoffs are so short that you've just got to get in and get hot," St. Lucie manager Felipe Guerrero told BNN after the win. "We took care of the first part and now we're just working on the second."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Tradition Field in Port St. Lucie.
