St. Lucie Breaks Through for First Win in Round 1; Now Trails 2-1
The St. Lucie Mets have closed some of the gap between themselves and the series-leading Charlotte Stone Crabs, winning 4-2 at Charlotte Sports Park today. Mets right-hander Julio Rolon threw 5.1 innings allowing 2 runs. The win cuts the deficit facing the Mets to 2-1 in the best-of-5 Round 1.

The outcome might have been different for St. Lucie, had it not been for Cesar Contreras, the 23-year old center fielder . Contreras stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put St. Lucie up, 4-2. For the game, he was 2 for 4, including 1 double and 1 single.

"It's a big deal," Contreras said of the win. "If we had gone to 0-3, we're pretty much out of it."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Charlotte Sports Park in Port Charlotte.
