Indians Clip Knights 2-1 in R1 Contest
The Indianapolis Indians moved to within one game of the Round 2 today, downing the Charlotte Knights 2-1 in a low-scoring affair at Victory Field. Leading the way for the Indians was hurler Tim Russell. He threw 5.1 innings of 3-hit ball. The win gives the Indians a 2-1 advantage in the best-of-5 Round 1.

Mike Mellor tagged a home run off Tristen Campbell in the bottom of the eighth. His solo blast put the Indians on top, 2-1. In all, Mellor had 2 singles in addition to the home run, while going 3 for 4.

"Runs were tough to come by," said Russell. "But we scored just enough to win."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Victory Field in Indianapolis.
