Shields Has Hot Hand, Bangs 5 hits
Tuesday, May 30th , 2113
It takes more than one player to win a baseball game - as proven by John Shields of the Northwest Arkansas Naturals.
The Northwest Arkansas right fielder gave it his all and dominated San Antonio Missions pitching at Nelson W. Wolff Municipal Stadium, finishing with a great 5-for-5 line. However, when the game ended, the scoreboard showed the Missions going home the winner, 6-5.
"There's no point gloating about a 5-hit day in a loss," Shields said. "A loss just means you should have done more. Maybe I should have hit 5 home runs instead."
John Shields singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and hit a two-run single in the 9th.
Shields is currently batting .298 with 1 home run, 14 runs scored and 13 RBIs. His OBP is .375.
