Barry Nicholson put the San Antonio Missions on his shoulders as they downed the Midland RockHounds in the Round 1.

San Antonio won the deciding game by a 12-9 count at Security Bank Ballpark and wrapped up the series 3-1.

Nicholson played a key role in the victory, as he was named series MVP for his offensive output, which included a .438 batting average with a .471 on-base percentage, 3 home runs, 7 RBI and 4 runs scored.

"I told myself it was time to step it up and help the team win and I'm glad I was able to do that," he said.

The San Antonio Missions don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Tulsa Drillers - Northwest Arkansas Naturals series. Tulsa leads the series 2 games to 1. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes.
