Walker, Biscuits Take Dramatic Game 3 for 2-1 Series Lead
|
The Montgomery Biscuits nearly wasted a strong game from starter Andy Walker, but were saved by some timely hitting in a 10th inning walk-off win over the Birmingham Barons today.
Walker pitched well in the 2-1 win at Montgomery Riverwalk Stadium. He threw 5.2 innings of 3-hit ball. The win allowed Montgomery to seize a 2-1 lead in the best-of-5 Round 1.
The clutch hit was provided by Melvin Casasola. He delivered a walk-off run-scoring double off Tony Gomez in the bottom of the tenth.
"Extras are exciting for the fans, but they are tough for the visitors because every time they're at the plate, they can end it with one swing," said Barons manager John Ware.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Montgomery Riverwalk Stadium in Montgomery.
