Birmingham Win to Pull Even With Montgomery
|
The Birmingham Barons and the Montgomery Biscuits will take the Round 1 to a decisive 5th game. In a must-win situation today, the Barons beat the Biscuits 4-1 at Montgomery Riverwalk Stadium to force the series into what will essentially be a one-game playoff. Birmingham left-hander Dane Wein had a big role in the win. He threw 7.0 innings of shutout ball.
The Biscuits had trouble solving Wein, who surrendered no runs on 3 hits over 7 innings.
"Dane did a tremendous job," said Birmingham manager John Ware.
Game 5 is scheduled for Tuesday at Regions Field in Birmingham.
