Biscuits Prevail, as Round 1 Goes to the Wire
The Montgomery Biscuits have advanced to the Round 2 on "hard work and determination," according to the series MVP.

"That's all it is, we were willing to work harder, we wanted it more and we wouldn't be denied," said Fernando Mendoza. "We feel like this is our year and we aren't going to be stopped."

The Birmingham Barons certainly put up a good fight, as the series came right down to the wire. Montgomery won the final game 2-1 and the series 3-2.

Mendoza had a 0.00 ERA over 7 innings pitched to earn the MVP. He also added 8 strikeouts with a 1-0 record.

The Montgomery Biscuits don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Pensacola Blue Wahoos - Biloxi Shuckers series. That series is tied at 2 games apiece. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes.
