Indians Clip Braves 2-1 in R2 Contest
The Indianapolis Indians and the Gwinnett Braves will take the Round 2 to a decisive 7th game. In a must-win situation today, the Indians beat the Braves 2-1 at Victory Field to force the series into what will essentially be a one-game playoff. Indianapolis right-hander Bill Gourd had a big role in the win. He threw 7.0 innings of 4-hit ball.

The game was at a stalemate until right fielder Travis Hicks came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Gwinnett pitcher Mark Weeks, he hit a 2-2 splitter for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Indianapolis on top, 2-1.

"Every loss stings," said Gwinnett manager Stephen Swagerty. "This one is no exception."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Victory Field in Indianapolis.
