Road Win Lifts Peoria to 2-1 Lead in R1
|
When the games really matter, the Peoria Chiefs put on their best show, beating the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers by a final score of 5-0. Billy Tapia came in in relief and pitched to 18 batters. Peoria now leads Wisconsin 2-1 in the best-of-5 affair.
Joe Weston dealt the Timber Rattlers a blow in the top of the fourth. Batting with runners on 2nd and 3rd and Peoria leading 1-0, Weston hit a 2-0 sinker for a 2-run single.
"Things broke our way today and that's great," Chiefs manager Bobby Perez said. "It's important, though, to stay focused and not pat yourself on the back too much. We aren't done yet."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Neuroscience Feild at Fox Cities Stadium in Grand Chute.
