Diaz Stars as Ironbirds Top Renegades, 6-5
|
The Aberdeen Ironbirds defeated the Hudson Valley Renegades by the score of 6-5, with the biggest share of the credit going to designated hitter Alex Diaz. Diaz was 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 4 for the Ironbirds on the day. Jeff Lambert earned the save, his 4th, for the Ironbirds. Aberdeen is now 53-22, 13½ games up in the McNamara Division.
With Aberdeen leading 1-0 in the top of the second, Diaz came up to bat against Hudson Valley pitcher Dave Frausto. Diaz hit a fastball to right for a grand slam home run. His 6th home run of the season put the Ironbirds on top, 5-0.
"We'll relax tonight and get back after it tomorrow," Diaz said after the game.
