In a tight tilt between the Vermont Lake Monsters and the Lowell Spinners, Nick Johnson was the deciding factor. The Vermont right-hander spearheaded the 3-1 win. The winner was Johnson. He threw 7.0 innings of 5-hit ball. The loser was Aaron Adams. By defeating Lowell, the last-place Lake Monsters improved to 22-54.

With scoring opportunities rare, the Lake Monsters had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the first, when third baseman Dave Herrera hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Aaron Adams and made the score 1-0, Lake Monsters. Herrera went 1 for 4.

"In baseball, you have your ups and downs," said Lowell manager Victor Aquino. "You just try to stay level-headed the whole time."
