River Bandits, Cougars Play 10 to Settle Game 1, Quad Cities Now Leads Series 1-0
|
When the games really matter, the Quad Cities River Bandits put on their best show, beating the Kane County Cougars by a final score of 10-6 today. Alex Romero was 4-6 with 4 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Quad Cities now leads Kane County 1-0 in the best-of-5 affair.
Quad Cities used the timely hitting of Sam Latsch to seize the win. The left fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the River Bandits on top, 7-6. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"I hate extra innings," Quad Cities manager Rich Mejia said. "It makes everyone more tired, wears out the bullpen, wears out the fans. Even winning doesn't make me feel good about it."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Fifth Third Bank Ballpark in Geneva.
