Sanchez Powers Spinners to 9-3 Win
|
Behind the bravura of catcher Ivan Sanchez, the Lowell Spinners topped the Connecticut Tigers by the score of 9-3. Sanchez went 4 for 5 with a triple, a double, and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3 for the Spinners. Mike Sherwood got credit for the win, improving to 1-0. He allowed 1 run on 1 hit in 7 innings. At 35-39, the Spinners find themselves in last place in the Stedler Division.
Chris Miller had a big 2-run double for the Spinners in the top of the second inning. With Lowell leading 1-0 and the bases loaded, he got a curveball from Pat Blair, who was drafted in the 3rd round of the 2104 draft, and swatted a double to right. It was his 17th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Spinners ahead, 3-0.
"We did a lot of good things tonight," said Lowell manager Mike Medlock.
