The Augusta GreenJackets nearly wasted a strong game from starter Jared Mallard, but were saved by some timely hitting in a walk-off win over the Lexington Legends today.

Mallard threw 7.0 innings of 6-hit ball. The win allowed Augusta to force a 1-1 tie in the best-of-5 Round 1.

The clutch hit was provided by Justin Johnson. He delivered a walk-off run-scoring single off Oreiby LaCroix in the bottom of the tenth.

"I think that game took a few years off my life," Augusta manager Aaron Bailey said.

Game 3 is scheduled for Sunday at Whitaker Bank Ballpark in Lexington.
