Charlotte Takes 1-0 Series Lead with Walk-off Win
A clutch 9th inning gave the Charlotte Knights a walk-off win over the Syracuse Chiefs and a 1-0 lead in the Round 1 at BB&T Stadium. Young first baseman Joey Simpson, 24, earned kudos after he went 3-5 with 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice.

Charlotte got a clutch hit from Jake Sanders. The designated hitter launched a 2-run home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to win the game. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a kill shot.

"We're happy," Simpson told reporters after the win. "When you're in the playoffs, you've got to treat every game like it could be your last."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at BB&T Stadium in Ft. Mill.
