Round 1 Game 1 Goes to Aberdeen, Thanks to Fisher
|
The Aberdeen Ironbirds started the Round 1 in style, downing the visiting Mahoning Valley Scrappers at Ripken Stadium by a score of 4-2 to grab an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-5 series. Ironbirds first baseman Justin Fisher was 2 for 3 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.
Adam Nissen chipped in a solo home run for Aberdeen in the bottom of the first. For the game, the right fielder had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 2 RBI.
Nissen attributed the win to his team's "steely resolve."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Ripken Stadium in Aberdeen.
