The Charlotte Knights powered past the visiting Toledo Mud Hens, 3-1, in the opener of the Round 1 at BB&T Stadium. Charlotte starting pitcher Raul Ornelas threw 6.0 innings of shutout ball, to lead the charge. The Knights now lead the series 1-0.

Jason Reihl chipped in a 2-run home run for Charlotte in the bottom of the seventh. For the game, the shortstop had 2 hits in 2 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 2 RBI.

"Raul's not intimidated by who's stepping into the batter's box," said Charlotte manager Nick Zlomke.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at BB&T Stadium in Ft. Mill.
