Barber Best IL Starter in August

Matt Barber really tore up the International League this past month. He went 4-0 in August and won the Pitcher of the Month award.
In 6 starts he struck out 43 in 46 innings with a 1.57 ERA.
This season to date, Barber has a record of 9 wins and 10 losses with a 3.83 ERA, has appeared in 24 games and struck out 148 in 164.2 innings.

Medina Brings Home IL Batter of Month Honor

Ricardo Medina made his presence known as one of the best young stars in the International League this past month.
The Norfolk Tides third baseman shined through the month of August and has won the Batter of the Month award.
The 24-year-old hit .358 with 3 home runs, 24 RBIs and 19 runs scored.
Thus far this year, Medina has hit .268 with 13 home runs and 77 RBIs.

Veillette Tosses Shutout Against Durham

Ben Veillette spun his magic in a shutout victory at Durham Bulls Athletic Park, 1-0, over the Durham Bulls. The Gwinnett pitcher put quite a spell on Durham in a strong performance, allowing 3 hits while totaling 1 walk and 8 strikeouts.
"I had a lot of good things working in this one," Veillette said. "I worked both sides of the plate. I was rarely behind in the count."
Thus far this season, Veillette has worked 142.2 innings with 136 strikeouts en route to a 7-7 record and a 3.66 ERA.
