Hooks Advance to Round 2
|
The Corpus Christi Hooks said they felt the Round 1 with the San Antonio Missions would go the distance.
But it didn't end up being that difficult, as Corpus Christi advanced to the Round 2 with a 4-3 score, to clinch the series 3-1 at Whataburger Field.
"Whether it goes to the final game or not, we faced a good team and got the job done. It's a big momentum boost for us," said Edwin Oliva, who was named series MVP. "We're all feeling good about our chances to win the Round 2."
For the series, Oliva hit .500 with a .556 on-base percentage. He had 0 home runs, drove in 0 RBI and scored 5 runs.
The Corpus Christi Hooks will play against the Tulsa Drillers in the next round. Tulsa won their series against the Springfield Cardinals 3 games to 0. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes.
