The Palm Beach Cardinals moved to within one game of the Round 2, downing the visiting Fort Myers Miracle at Roger Dean Stadium by a score of 5-1. Cardinals right-hander Danny Stephens had a strong outing in which he threw 7.0 innings of shutout ball. The win gives the Cardinals a 2-0 advantage in the best-of-5 Round 1.

Stephens was dominant for Palm Beach. The right-hander allowed no runs on 3 hits, while racking up 8 strikeouts. He threw 82 pitches over 7 innings in the contest.

"We're not going to sweep 'em," Stephens said in response to a question after the game. "Fort Myers is too good not to take a game somewhere."
