Road Win Lifts Biloxi to 1-0 Lead in R1
The Biloxi Shuckers started the Round 1 in style, winning on the road against the Pensacola Blue Wahoos at Five County Stadium by a score of 7-2 to take an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-5 series. Shuckers second baseman Mike Whitworth excelled. He was 2 for 4 with a double. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2.

Biloxi used the hitting of Jody Gifford to pick up the win. The catcher clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the second inning to put the Shuckers on top, 3-0. For the game, Gifford had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.

"The bar for us is not a particular opponent, it's ourselves," said Biloxi manager Carlos Estrada.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Five County Stadium in Pensacola.
