Shorebirds Win Round 1
The Delmarva Shorebirds said they are ready for the challenges ahead in the South Atlantic League playoffs.

The club passed a big hurdle tonight, eliminating the Kannapolis Intimidators in the Round 1 to advance to the Round 2. Delmarva won the final game by a score of 6-0 at CMC-NorthEast Stadium and took the series 3-1.

"Everything is falling into place and going how we expected it to play out," said series MVP Jimmy Gill. "We've just got to keep momentum rolling."

The Shorebirds kept excitement rolling in their clubhouse after the game, as the team celebrated the Round 1 win into the early morning.

"They played great ball, they deserve to celebrate," said a solemn Kannapolis manager Brian Turek.

For the series, Gill had a 0.00 ERA over 9 innings pitched. He added 6 strikeouts with a 1-0 record.

The Delmarva Shorebirds will play against the Asheville Tourists in the next round. Asheville won their series against the Rome Braves 3 games to 1. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes.
