Northwest Arkansas Advances to Round 2
|
The Northwest Arkansas Naturals took time to celebrate with the Northwest Arkansas fans who stuck around after the game, following the team's Round 1 triumph over the Tulsa Drillers.
Members of the Naturals hung around chatting, high-fiving and taking pictures with the Northwest Arkansas fans in attendance at Arvest Ballpark, long after the last pitch had been thrown in their 5-1 win to seal the series 3-1.
"We've got great fan support," said shortstop Mark Troupe. "Whether we're at home or on the road, the fans support us. So we wanted to show them how important that is to us. Some Tulsa fans that were there even congratulated us on the win."
For the series, Troupe hit .579 with a .579 on-base percentage. He had 0 home runs, 5 RBI and scored 2 runs.
Things weren't so cordial on the Drillers side of things. Their clubhouse was closed to media after the game and all players and coaches quickly dressed and left the stadium after the end to their season.
The Northwest Arkansas Naturals don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the San Antonio Missions - Frisco RoughRiders series. That series is tied at 2 games apiece. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes.
